Full-time faculty positions will be posted on a per-opening basis. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Applicants will be evaluated at the college/school level for the position which they are submitting an application.  Unless noted by a close date, positions will remain open until they are filled. Part-time Faculty Opportunities
DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department.  Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding.  Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit.  All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

The Game Development program in the School of Design within the College of Computing and Digital Media at DePaul University invites applicants to apply for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in September 2018.

Our innovative, well-established Game Design program works closely with our sister programs in Gameplay Programming, Computer Science, Graphic Design, Animation, Digital Cinema, Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Computer Graphics. Our students and faculty strive to advance the medium and expand games by cultivating games with novel aesthetic, emotional, or social impact. Located in the heart of Chicago’s vibrant Loop, the School of Design offers a learning environment that nurtures the development of future-proof designers who are visionary, adaptive, and interdisciplinary. Our faculty builds bridges within and outside DePaul and engages in community outreach and social justice projects that correspond to DePaul’s Vincentian Mission. Help us shape our exciting new MFA in Game Design that launched Spring 2017. The position features well-paid compensation, supported faculty leave, generous travel budgets to present work at festivals and conferences You’ll have opportunities to travel and collaborate with institutions globally and teach Study-Abroad programs in Japan, Scotland, China and Mexico. The College of Computing and Digital Media has a wide array of cutting-edge equipment such as the latest generation VR and AR devices, iPhones, a spherical camera rig, etc. as well as impressive spaces such as a motion capture lab, recording studios, a stop motion lab, a usability lab, a fabrication lab, professional film studios, and a newly-built physical technology lab with laser cutters, 3D printers, and other tools. Faculty are given space to develop new courses and create projects that explore the possibilities of games and play experiences on emerging technologies and platforms. Collaborate across disciplines in the exciting environment of the College of Computing and Digital Media that includes School of Computing, School of Design and School of Cinematic Arts.

Required Qualifications

Ideal candidates for the position will have teaching and creative development experience in several of the following areas: Art and experimental games; games about human experience; narrative design; prototyping; scripting; level design; systems design. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of showing games in festivals, museums, and/or conferences, who has advised student work accepted into festivals. Qualified candidates will have service and administrative experience in addition to substantial teaching, research and creative development. Individuals with diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. A terminal degree such as an MFA or PhD is required.
